The 1988 Ford Mustang was a virtual carryover from the 1987 model.
Why change a good thing? Not only did Ford think so but so did buyers.
In fact, in 1988 Ford sold more that 225,000 Mustangs.
The only noticeable addition was the introduction of the Mass
Air fuel injection version of the EEC-IV on California Mustangs.
Beginning in 1989 this new "Mass-Air" system would be
standard application on all future Mustangs. During the 1988 Ford
Mustang production year the T-tops roof was removed as convertible
Mustang sales remained strong.
