The 1968 Chevrolet Camaro seen relatively few changes from the
1967 model. The grill was slightly changed with some silver highlights,
side marker lights were mounted near the bumpers on the fenders
and quarter panels, and the vent windows in each door were removed
giving the car a more modern flowing look. Model options were similar
to 1967.
Models:
SS: Super sport package - available with three 396 options (325hp,
350hp, 375hp aluminum head L78). Model is denoted with SS trim markings,
simulated air intakes on the hood, blacked out grill with SS emblems,
SS stamping on the gas cap. As well the cars had distinctive striping
"bumble bee" style. Big block cars received chrome inserts
on the hood.
RS: This package was primarily cosmetic. It is identified by the
blacked out grill with hideaway headlamps, badging, and additional
interior trim. This package could be ordered on the SS as it was
simply a trim option.
Z-28: This was essentially a base Camaro with front disc brakes,
Muncie 4 speed, 302 with 11:1 compression and 290 hp. Only identifiable
by the twin stripes on the hood and trunk and the Z/28 badge on
the fenders.
