1968 Dodge Charger

These are perhaps the greatest year of the Charger. With the introduction
of the new Coke bottle styling of the 1968 Car
and Driver™ gave the 1968 Dodge Charger top honours for
styling. It showed at the dealerships as Dodge sold nearly 250,000
Chargers during the next three years. Exciting new specialised models
were introduced; R/T, SE, and Charger 500. These will eventually
be known as the best years of the Charger.
The 1968 styling is easy to recognize with its round tailights,
tunnel style rear window, and open grill with hideaway headlights.
This year also seen the introduction of the performance R/T model.
This model included a bumble bee stripe, a 440 magnum. heavy dudty
brakes and handling equipment. If that wasn't enough you could order
the Hemi to really speed things up.
Models:
Base: 318 motor.
R/T: 375 hp 440 Magnum was standard. Heavy duty drum brakes, special
handling equipment, F70 Red Streak Tires. Available 1968-1971. Hemi
and 6 pack were options as available.
SE: Leather seats, wood grain whell, deep dish wheel covers, wood
grain instrument panel. Could be ordered with R/T package. Available
1969up.
