1964 - 1970 Ford Mustang
Lee Iacocca unleashed Ford's new idea of the pony car in the summer
of 1964. Within two years Ford would sell over 1 million mustangs
world wide. Originally it was built on a Ford Falcon chassis and
was targeted at the sport car buyers market. Without a doubt, the
Ford Mustang is the most recognizable muscle car name and is the
only legacy from the 1960's to remain in production.
Interesting fact: The mustang project was code
named "T-5" in 1962. Ford sold over 400,000 mustangs in
the first year of production.
