1999 Ford Mustang

Overview

1999 marked the 35th anniversary of the legendary Ford Mustang. The exterior of the car featured more angular body lines yet retained the general body shape debuted in the SN95 platform in 1994. The major change was improved cylinder heads, cams, and intake system. These changes net the new Mustang with a legitimate 260 horespower at the rear wheels. When combined with a good driver the 4.6L can run high 13 second quarter mile times at 100mph.

During 1999 a Cobra mustang was again offered. However, several design flaws resulted in less than expected performance. Ford did offer recalls to improve intake and exhaust flow which built the power level back up to the claimed 320 horsepower. Read more about the 1999 Cobra Mustang.
